Definition and Purpose of the Evangelist Gift

The spiritual gift of evangelism is the special ability God gives to some to proclaim the Gospel of salvation effectively so that people respond to the promises of Christ through conversions to Christianity. Groups need someone with this gift to stay kingdom-focused, constantly helping the group communicate the Gospel in a truthful and exciting way that is not overly forceful.

Vulnerability of the Spiritual Gift Evangelist

All the gifts, talents and abilities that we have can be used negatively.  When Evangelism is used in a selfish, harsh, over-barring, reckless manner or when it is enabling sin or dysfunctional behavior, it would not be Spirit-led or an expression of love.  This gift is best used when coupled with Governing, Craftsman, Prophecy, Knowledge, Administration and Discernment

For example, someone with the Evangelism gifting could be blessed as a natural motivator, but in turn can unintentionally become manipulative in some instances.
