Spiritual Gift Giver | Giving

The Greek word for the Spiritual Gift Giver “didōmi” G1325.

Definition and Purpose of the Faith Gift

The spiritual gift of giving is the special ability God gives to recognize one’s resources (time, talent, and treasure) and generously, sacrificially, and cheerfully give without expecting anything in return. Groups need someone with this gift to contribute the needed resources to accomplish tasks and relieve need.

support CLUSTER spiritual gift Giver Giving Service ideas: lead fundraising initiatives, donate to special projects, counselors, finance and support missions, serving the church (e.g., pack food boxes, host teams for meals, voice for other needs in church, hospitality outreach, food and clothing distribution, greeter), serving the church body (e.g., emergency child-care, emergency shelter, baby-sit for couples, host small groups, help special needs, support-group, transportation to needs-doctors/store, financial assistance)

Vulnerability of the Giver

All the gifts, talents and abilities that we have can be used negatively.  When Giving is used in a selfish, harsh, over-barring, reckless manner or when it is enabling sin or dysfunctional behavior, it would not be Spirit-led or an expression of love.  This gift is best used when coupled with Leadership, Apostle, Government, Wisdom, Pastor and Prophecy.

For example, someone with the Giving gifting could be blessed with a naturally generous personality, but at times can unintentionally have enabling tendencies.

Matthew 15:36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.

Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Matthew 25:34-36 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Galatians 4:15 Where, then, is your blessing of me now? I can testify that, if you could have done so, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.

Acts 14:21-22 They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Acts 2:42-44 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.  Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.  From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Spiritual Gift Clusters | Your position in the body

Divine Destiny Spiritual Gifts ClusterYour Spiritual Gift Clusters helps you see that your are a reflection of God.  Because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph. 2: 4-10)  You were created to SHINE!

God created you uniquely to carry out the good works that He has set before you. You have a special blend of abilities, spiritual gifts, personality, passions and calling that make up your divine destiny. Let’s use the assessment to consider what God’s fingerprint on your life says about your purpose.

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be. There should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. (1 Cor. 12: 12, 18, 25, 27)
